Veron
Petit
Huth
Stanic
Ok thats the only 11 i can come up with at the moment.. is Zenden still there? The article says 15 midfielders now. Looking at some of those names, at least 9, maybe all of them would be guarenteed first team football in the premiership.. it just seems ridiculous that they have moved to chelsea, basically, cos of the money and what theyre earning each week to sit on the bench/play in the reserves. If all the players end up at Chelsea, ok the premiership will look good, and chelsea will improve, but its just gonna make everyone angry at chelsea and i think make footy a bit more boring.. I will try and argue both sides of the coin on this one
Chelsea: They want to build, eventually, a pure british (or majority) team. So far they have some of the best young british players, Terry, Johnston, Lampard and now Parker. They have Duff, who is Irish but still in British Isles, along with Cole (Joe) and Cole (Carlton) who are both massive prospects. Signing Parker is more of a long term investment, as was Cole and Johnston. The reason Ranieri has gone all out for it is because Russian billionnaire is an admiror of Sven, and this, well, it probablyscares the shit out of Ranieri. He is just trying his best to win something to stay on as manager, but in doing this, expectations are only going to be even higher.
Observer: Chelsea are going to become as hated as Man U. As Man U did with Saha, you just leak out that you want to buy him, and let the media get all the information out, then the player gets upset and wants to move, and then bang, a team who posed a threat to your club are gone (not by challenging them for the title, but Fulham proved they could beat Man U when they beat them 3-1 away). Its getting ridiculas that loyalty, which ones was a key feature in football, has now nearly dissapeared, and is even present in the 1st division (Lee Morris, came from Sheffield, Sheffield Utd wanted him, Derby agreed transfer fee, and then he did a U turn to Leicester. ) Yes leicester are in the Premier league, but they're prob getting relegated this year, if he went to Sheff Utd, he's going to his home club, where he grew up, and to a team on he up. Its all about money and unfortunetly, we live in a very materialistic world.
Gone are the days of Matthew LeTissier denying a move to Man U to help out Southampton to beat relegation, and open are the days players signing five year contracts and leavign half a year into that contract.
