sex sells, plain and simple. we like looking at good looking men and women, and if they started putting on average or even ugly ppl. on TV, i highly doubt it would be good for their ratings, even if those people had the most profound conversations ever. there's even a news channel here in my city that uses exceptionally good looking male and female newscasters (no they are fully covered, tho) just to attract viewers.

TV these days has gone to dogs, i hardly even watch anymore...and i suggest you do the same

I know it's obvious, I know sex sells and not intelligence. "Why is this on TV" was a rhetorical question I just needed to have a nice rant. I decided to pick on Extreme Dating cause I left the TV on while doing my homework and eventually found my eye twitching from hating it so much.

And as for the programming on TV...yes, it's gone to shit, that's why I don't have cable. I don't need to pay good money so I can get 50+ channels of trash. I have maybe 8 channels from a free antenna so that I can watch some favourite sitcoms (Simpsons, King of the Hill, Star Trek, That '70s Show, King of Queens, Air Farce etc), as well as the occasional TV movie.
