I havn't used it at all but I've heard that it's just as good as a Virus B/C

All the patches on the Virus Powercore that are on the B sound just as good, and all the patches that are on the Virus Powercore that are also on the C sound just as good if they aren't using the EQ or the Moog Filter, but even when they do, it doesn't make a huge difference.

The powercore also comes with GREAT hardware quality FX like reverb, chorus, compression, etc etc... all run on the Powercore's DSPs so it takes the load off of your CPU..

I'm getting it over the summer and I suggest you do the same

The Virus Powercore is a VSTi that runs on the Digital Signal Processors (DSP) of the Powercore PCI card. The DSPs allowed Access to easily transfer the code from the Virus B/C right to a VSTi. Since they were able to use the same algorithms that the Virus B/C has, it sounds just as good as the hardware equivilant.

You need a Powercore PCI card to run the VSTi. The Powercore Element runs for about $500 and the Virus VSTi is $400. Even if you are getting the powercore for only the virus, it is still $100 cheaper than even the Virus Classic that just came out.

virus powercore

I have the powercore, and the virus powercore demo, To me it's the best soft synth i have heard up to date.. I am looking forward buying this thing as soon as it comes out.. When I play around with the demo I am amazed how closely it sounds to my virus c..

That's not what I meant.. the virus powercore runs on motorola DSPs whereas all other softsynths run on the standard x86 CPU which was not designed for sound. So can you really call the Virus Powercore a softsynth?

Yeah, I know. I Was just being sarcastic...

Can't really call Virus Powercore a softsynth, cause you need specific hardware to run it unlike other softsynths. But can't really call it a hardware synth in the traditional way. If you know what I mean.
