I purchased a pair of Sennheiser D280Pro headphones from a local retailer, and they have broken.

The drivers are perfectly intact, but the plastic which affixes them to the headband first cracked, and has now completely shattered, the headphones are now unusable.

Unfortunately, I do not have the receipt or packaging for the headphones, I discarded it after the headphones worked fine for a few months.

I like these headphones very much, and I'd like to know how i can repair them.

Apparently these headphones are marketed as being "modular", and everything is replacable, but the only removable part i see is the wrap around thing on the headband.

I would suggest about 1/2 a roll of duct tape. But since that would be pretty uncomfortable, the only way that I can see to fix it is to put a metal or very sturdy plastic brace with a couple of small bolts through it. Otherwise, you'll never have the rigidity that you need. Just be careful to not make them too ridgid.

that sucks....... i have no idea how to fix that but i'm sorry they broke. if you havent already, you should check out their website but that is stating the obvious.

yeah, tried that already. it worked for a while, but not anymore, there is no rigidity at all.

and yes, i've checked their website.

try to get ahold of sennheiser. they may actually give you a rma authorization so you can get em fixed.

that looks like they have taken some right hammer.. how the hell did you do that?

that looks like you have completely fucked over the attatching part. sennheiser may be able to repair them but they will land you with the cost of a whole new head band, that doesnt look like warranty material..

failing that, my old pair of technics headfones did the same, i got an old pair of headfones, and stole the in-tact headband off them, and taped it to the band of the others for the rigidity.. its obviously not the best to look at, but you get steet cred if you say you have 'customised' your headfones

yes sennhesiers are totally modular- all parts are available individually as a service part.

Not cheap tho.

Christ sonys crack, but nowhere near that bad- thats looks really poor.
For the record, every pair of senns ive owned has had something break on them.

Coincidentally- im phoning pioneer uk today to get my hdj1000s done under warranty..... Its international headphone fix-it day

Man, and i thought senns were the most durable headphones you can get.

i think what did it was wearing them in the winter, it made the plastic brittle, and it cracked.

I didn't handle them especially roughly though, just normal use.

You should be able to buy the parts, and maybe they will even fix them free without the receipt. They fixed mine under warranty with just the receipt, no packaging. Mine have cracked at the ends of the headband, I got them fixed and they are doing it again within a couple of months of light useage.

I'd suggest emailing Sennheiser, check the Senn websites, there is a main one and two or more others for USA, Canada etc. I politely described what was happening to mine and suggested the material on the headband need to be stronger, and they are investigating the problem (I hope).

They need to use a testing machine like the chair tester at IKEA, to make them "strong like bull", like my 24 year old Volkswagen Jetta which still has the original brake pads, brake fluid, clutch, transmission oil, etc.

Here is how mine look right now, eventually the end of the headband will break off. The other side has smaller cracks. Picture is the bottom 2.5 inches of the right side headband.

I've had mine 9 months, they showed the first little cracks in a month, then the cracks got bigger and after 3 months I sent them in for repairs and now it's happening again. I just bedroom DJ a few nights a week and keep them on my head without the on/off movements that would make them break even faster. They might be OK if a person had a smaller headsize.

I'd suggest using epoxy (clear pref. so they won't show as much)(something like this ==>Quick google http://shop.vetcosurplus.com/catalo...products_id=923 ). About 6 bucks and can be found at local hardware store.

I had a pair of Sonys that it broke on one side and cracked on other side. I used epoxy as temp. solution and 9 months later, my buddy is still using them !! epoxy works magic .. I'm surprised no one has ever mentioned this .. I used to work at a computer repair shop and we'd use epoxy all the time to repair broken laptop plastic parts.
