this is not quite right. at least for fruity and cubase check the dbAudioware Compressor. you need two instances, a sender and a reciever.

ok, back to topic:
there's a way to 'emulate' sidechaining in Fruityloops. perhaps this works in Reason, too.
with a PeakController on the kickdrum you can control the gain of your bassline. on every kick the volume gets lowered and raised right after which makes your bassline 'duck'. but i don't know if Reason offers a similar device.
