Digital Downloads: Tried & Tested

I've reviewed some of the most popular digital download sites for trance related music and thought you guys might be interested in reading it. The sites reviewed are Trackitdown, Audio Jelly, BeatPort, AnjunaDigital and Play It Tonight.

Read it here: http://www.trance-inc.com/?page=articles&article_id=8

Cheers!

Nice review. Think that for many price will be very relevant, so for people in the Euro zone Beatport is very attractive, simply because it costs less.

Very nice! Thanks a lot for the write-up. More people should take a look at it.

only thing i have to pick up on is the quality of the tracks wasnt tested and reviewed at all, just the service. There's some significant differences between a few of those in terms of the mastering, encoding etc etc. maybe next time.

I'm sorry, but your statement on the above Beatport review about all WAV files being $1.99 is incorrect.

I have recently purchased WAV files and have had them sent to me by FedEx, and they cost the same as if I had downloaded the MP3 or AAC versions. Some were $0.99, and others were $1.49. The only difference is the cost of shipping.

Also, sometime between now and the end of Summer Beatport should be offering MP3s encoded at 320kbs for downloading.

Why thank you Mista for sharing this article with us, and of course for writing it. I'm enjoying it right now... font's unusually small on my web browser but I think I can scale it up.

I'm looking into buying .wav's off Beatport and perhaps you can answer my question since the article didn't talk about getting CDs shipped. How much was the shipping? Was it per CD or per order?

Ok, they must have changet it recently then, cause thats the price they mention in their FAQ. Will update the article now.

I only noticed 2 trance labels on edmdigital.com which is why I decided not to include it. I will extend the review once ATSDigital launches, so maybe I'll take a look at edmdigital as well.

Shipping was $9 something for FedEx Ground.

I'm just guessing FedEx Next Day would probably be about double the price so around $15-$20.

FedEx has a price calculator on their website.

You neglected to mention a key point in your article also. you mentioned anjuna only do orders of £5 and above with credit card / debit card orders BUT you didnt mention that Anjuna do not charge a massive £0.50 extra when using your debit card like audio jelly for example- and that is why they only accept payments over £5.
