No, technics is not coming out with a new player anytime soon...Take into consideration that a company usually likes to let thier flagships stay on the market for a while, also im sure technics were expecting a better reaction to this player, so low sales should delay a new player from them even longer. If anything they will make a poorer model in a year or so. Remember dns5000 came before dns3000, cdj1000 came before cdj800 (i think). Companies usually make a club model, and then a bedroom dj model.
Besides, what makes you think theyd make a good good cdj if they made another? If you think they learn from thier mistakes please check out thier mixers. So far technics makes good TTs, and decent headphones. They make HORRIBLE mixers, and bad cd players.
But if you are one of those sad people who think that "Technics= t3h uber shit!!!!11" (im not saying you are) Then by all means buy the sldz, because its silver, it has a red strobe, and it says technics on it, and im sure youll be very happy with it.
::this has not been a flame on technics, i love thier tts, and own thier rpdj1210's::

Sorry to double post, but when you say the sldz feels like a vinyl, on a slipmat...are you sure youve used, or read up on these? From the very small time ive used them, they feel like a metal ring spinning around, not a circular disk, why? Because they put a god damn display, and control right in the middle of the platter. Also Theres these two bolts or screws stuck in the middle of the spinning ring. This just ruins the feel.
If for some reason you want a spinning platter the denons have a smaller, but clutter free platter. It has some sort of a vinyl adaptor if you really need it...
What would suit your whole, "vinyl on slipmat" thing most would certainly be the cdx, but its really for turntabilism. I'm assuming you are into scratching since you are worried about a cd player having a spinning platter, and feeling like vinyl?

A cd player isnt going to do that in the same manner. I dont care what anyone says, no matter what deck you get, no cdtt is going to be anything close to vinyl. (possibly excluding the cdx) They are totally different, but they are great. I suggest you try out all these decks before you buy one, right now it doesnt seem like youre sure what to look for in a cd deck.

When i used the sldz there was another guy wanting to use it so i hardly got to try it out. If i remember when you put you hand on the plastic record ring thing...the whole platter does stop. From pictures it looks like its bolted to the platter with 2 bolts, so it isnt slipping anywhere. Besides, if it did slip normal play would just continue seeing as the sound is manipulated by the platter, not the plastic disk on the top. If you want a player that has a plastic disk on top, and a spinning player get the denons. They have a plastic disk that can be replaced by a real vinyl, also you can print out custom slip mats and put them under the clear disk thing.
All of these frills aside the pioneer 1000 is the best cd player out there imo. If thats too pricey id go for the denon 3000, i think its a bit better than the cdj 800, as has been discussed in multiple threads already.
