Songs that could have been really good

I'm sick of seeing all the typical "what are your favourite tunes" thread so instead heres. What are some songs that you like but dislike at the same time due to something that ruins the song.

So just list the Artist, Song, then what ruins it

some of these for me would be:

Oxide and Neutrino - Shoot to Kill <-- Rapping

Chicane - Autumn Tactics <-- vocals sound a bit flat

Air - The Vagabond <-- Harmonica... I hate harmonicas!!!!

Four Tet - Unspoken <-- I wish that they had've made the melody louder in this one. because then it would have been perfect.

The Prodigy - Narayan

it could have been the same length, but with less repetition in the middle section, and perhaps a cool part where the breakbeats switch up and a MASSIVE acid synth attack rains down like fire and brimstone... toss in reverse-echo-delayed samples of Crispian's voice and some giant rising sampled string pads -- that would have been massive. Oooh throw in rising distortion on the beats for icing on the cake. As opposed, to you know, just more repetition in that space of 9-odd minutes.

IMO, hte harmonica is something which can be related to a vagabond, since it's a very melancholic instrument, that's why they added it.

Never liked Airbase's productions, Never liked Armin, Mike or L-Vee's stuff of late either.

Aalacho - Electro (nothing could have saved the album, it was trash)

Kosheen - Catch (Hiver & Hammer Remix) <- Everything bout this tune kicks so much ass until the riff comes in, which is suck a weak and poor effort that it just ruins the track completely.

Quadran - Naked Light (Dance Mix) <- gorgeous production by Philippe van Mullem, but those pompous diva vocals are just too much.

Shiva - Let There Be Love (Amethyst Mix) <- annoying tremolo vocal thing that just gets way too repetitive.

I don't recall a trumpet synth but wait... maybe I do... or no, maybe that was a Kai Tracid track I was thinking of -- the trumpetty sound pleasantly surprised me in that one. Memories so foggy.

There are a lot of tracks out there which I will not name which have an amazing source to build from, but I consider them either too repetitive or missing something like the physical presence absent from a long-distance relationship.

I often hear minimal techno and I'm like, "Whoa that's a really slamming beat!" and wish there could be a melody. Not all the time, but certainly, some of the time. A big slice of the proverbial key lime pie of music. And with uplifting/melodic/flavor of the month trance, I'm like "Okay, great melody, but the beat and bassline have been heard many times before and this one isn't twisting it into a new direction or anything". Put the two and two together and it's like MAWWIAGE!

Hence why Grand Unification of EDM is important to me and I cannot lean on any singular pillar alone, for that approach in the longterm would prove to be myopic and ignorant to what else lies beyond the wall. The art of the DJ, mixing records together and beyond, is part of this. Each patch, forming a part of a massive quilt, makes little sense on its own without a context to appreciate it within.

And then we have created our own rich neo-culture and history.

Astral Projection - Sticks & Stones

It begins in a wonderful way, leaving you waiting for a godly finale... the keyword is "waiting".

minimal man - make a move

catchy minimalistic tech house tune, but even so, it gets too repetitive. there is a remix out there on a ricardo villalobos compilation i think, which is very nice. the original, as found on Josh Wink's Profound Sounds vol. 2 is the only track from the CD i could go towards saying i dislike.
