Gay Republicans

I don't get it? I was watching the RNC last night and they where interviewing a gay, i think nominie sp?, from the "log cabin" group (got to love that) about anti gay party line. Conservativism must be some heady drug to want to affiliate yourself with a party that is against your best interest. Any Gay Republicans want to explain this, come on i know you're out there, just use "your friend".

Quite simple really. Is the democratic party solely populated by extreme liberal hippies who want to go out and save the environment above all other considerations? No it's one minority viewpoint of a party composed of a many many multi-faceted viewpoints. Similarly the republican party extends beyond simple social conservatism. There's also fiscal conservatism, limited government, state-rights advocates, individualists, etc., etc., etc. Hence the reason why you have moderate Republicans such as Arnold who's pro-gay marriage, pro-environment, yet still a republican. And then you have democrats such as HOward Dean who is buddy buddy with the NRA. Doesn't mean that he's a confused individual because he fails to tow the party line in all aspects. So obviously these logcabin republicans don't consider marriage as soemthing that is their BEST interest. Makes sense to me. I don't want to get fucking married and I would call anybody who does absoletely crazy.

I agree with occrider.

However, are there any democrats that are anti-gay marriage? Anti-abortion? I'm sure there are, I just don't follow it that well.

Oh sure, you have your moderate Dems. with these viewpoints, but for the most part they are not the majority. Very similar to the group moderate Repubs. views, which are not the majority partyline view.

Though I don't always agree with the mods. on either side, they are most certainly a necessity when it comes to working together in policy making.

Don't believe in marriage

If I wanted someone nagging me about my whereabouts along with a life of poverty (or the threat of poverty should I get sick of the nagging) I would just quit my job and go live with my parents again.

Me! .. though the Anti-abortion is something I agree up to a certain point, same with Gay Marriage.. Im Against it, but Im against it on to making it an amendment.. Im for letting gays be recognized as couple, but not married.

I still dont know what DIck Cheney's daughter thinks about all this ( she is a gay american ).

some gay men put the importance of the state ahead of the importance of "gay"

so i've been told by an acquaintance who is gay, and yes, republican.

that makes the most sense to me but, i find it akin to jew joining the nazi party for their stong defense policy, or kkk joining democrats for economic reasons.
