Do you use your cross fader?

I was just wondering how different people go about fading their tunes in and out. I personally learnt to mix using just the faders and eqs on each channel. I never touch the cross fader at all, just leave it in the middle (it actually has a switch where I can turn it off). Seeing as I've never used the cross fader before, I now find it really weird to try and mix using it.
Are there any pros and cons to mixing this way?

During a traditional mix I never touch the crossfader, just upfaders n eq's.

However, if I'm doing some teasing or sampling I like to use the crossfader.

I dunno why.

I do, but I just tried a mix using only the eq's, and It was probably the best mix I have ever done. Maybe it was just a coincidence, but I think I'll give eq mixing a little more attention.

I don't use the crossfader, never have (apart from once or twice trying it out).

Dunno why, just find volume faders and eqs more comfortable.

what are the advantages of only using the upfaders? isnt it difficult to bring one in and take one out at exactly the right rate, given diff volumes of tracks etc??

I use the crossfader along with the upfaders (and EQ's, but I don't tweak the volume much with them).

The advantages are exactly that, you have MORE control of the diff volumes of each track playing... they bring the cue'd track in smoother (on good mixers)... Same idea with taking out the live track, just everything is backwards..

I USE to use the crossfader, but lately I have given that up and been all about the up-faders and EQing... You GOTTA EQ to have a mix sounds correctly and smoothly...
