Apple ipod information required!

To all TA's, i am seriously considering purchasing
an apple ipod, i own a pc. The thought of having all these
wonderful livesets on a portable device is crazy.
I've looked up info on the website, however i have failed
to find key information that is required.

To any TA's that may own one of these i ask you this, does it have any capabilities of being able to import/display cue lists of any sorts. My thinking is if i buy one of these, 99% of mp3s i put on there will be livesets. When using winamp, i use mp3cue which displays the tracks of the set with artist and title. Is there something like this for the ipod? Or does it simply display the file,
eg. Gareth_Emery_GTR-Live_On_The_Weekend_Warm_Up-15-10-2004-djmixes2k.com.mp3 and that's it??? Meaning you have to fast-forward for certain tracks, and the information isn't displayed?
Or can you create your own cuelists?

If anyone can help me out it would be much appreciated. Thanks
in advance.

AFAIK it won't read cue files. You could always split the mp3 into pieces using the cue and hen upload them.

my presumption is that the IPOD will read it as a single mp3 file (if thats how you upload it) and provide the track information as per the mp3 id3 tag information..

if u wish for a liveset to be split into different files, probably best if u split it, and give it its own directory on your IPOD!

Thanks peoples!
I think i get it now. It's similar to burning a set
onto audio format for cd? Say, using Nero, split
the mp3 into separate tracks and then burn it that way.
Thus, the ipod will display the separate tracks of the whole
mp3 set. Correct?

Have to agree there, my experiences with the battery on the IPOD isn't favourable, many of my friends have had there's die on them, and they have to be replaced at considerable cost. Ontop of that, the IPOD battery dosen't last as long as I would like.

The creative players sound just as good to me, (some say they sound better, but I can't tell) and the battery lasts much longer.

I wouldn't never buy an IPOD again, if only I had known this before.

spot on.

with the battery issue, it definitly is a bit of a problem, not the longest lasting but its not too bad.. dont take the bar up the top of the ipod as an indication of remaining battery life as it often changes and does not give a real representation of how much play time u have left.

Other than that, I think its an awesome little gadget and hasnt given me any major problems. I get ample use from it, and its great to carry around especially if going travelling.

i would have got an ipod however it doesn't record from line in - which is no good when one of the big uses [for me] is recording sets.

I'd either go the new iRiver colour one [forget the model number now..] or the nomad zen.

I've had a Nomad Zen for two years now (apparently I was the first person in Australia to get one), and it's still going strong. Only has a 10 gig capacity, but realistically that's more than enough music to listen to, it's not often you think "I wish I had that set on here"...

iPods are apparently much easier to use, however, so if you're not really a computer geek the iPod may be a better option.
