This wont calm him down at all, but there is a six month window between the time youre infected and the time the markers for the virus can be identified.

This means that he should be tested six months after the last time they had sex. He should also get tested for much more than HIV if possible. Not trying to bring him dow, just thought he should know about the six month window.

well, he is going to be tested again in febraury...and the doctor said he should. the doctor also told him that even though he needs to get tested again after 6 months, most people who are negative after two months are not positive after 6 month, it is very rare. but just to make sure, after 6 months he should go get tested for HIV.

so, this calmed him a little bit, but still he gets scared that it could be positive after 6 months, even though he did not get any sympthoms that the HIV could produce after 3 weeks.

until then he is avoiding any kind of sexual relation ships with anyone. He is really worried that his future could be destroyed.

The #1 thing he should do is see a doctor... Talking with a doctor and empowering himself with knowledge is the only thing that will calm him down.

I'm not a doctor, but to my knowledge it sounds like he is taking the necessary precautions now. He should also be tested for things like Hepititus B & C, and other STDs... He may not have contracted HIV (hopefully!) but he may have caught something else. :-( Not to make your friend feel bad, but having sex is a very serious thing and both parties need to be responsible...they should both be tested for various STDs including HIV, Hep B & C, Chlamidia, Ghanaria, etc.
