ANYWAY....
for all you law buffs here we go.
Ok im in a bit of a messy situation. I think it has to do with labour law.
Basicly i left my last job at the futureshop distribution center to start as the assistant manager of a store out in langley. I was hired on the basis that i would be recieving manager training.
So i started and i notice right away that the manager of the store is VERY emotionaly un-stable. He basicly treated me like his bitch, i was working way more hours then i should have been, and he gave me NO training what so ever.
A month down the road he bitched me out really harshly in front of customers for not knowing how to do somthing when he was SUPPOSED to show me how to do in the first place. I took him into the back and we got into an argument, When i told him that he wasnt training me properly and that i was going to call head office about it, he attacked me, picked up a fairly heavy box and threw it into my chest. If it had been anywhere else but work i would of dropped the ****** on the spot, instead I went into the office grabbed the security tape and called the cops so there would be a record of it. He admited to the police in the report that he shoved the box at me.
So anyway i had the next week off with pay untill the head of operations could fly into Vancouver to meet with me, he said that there was no way that they could fire the manager of the store right before christmas and that i would most likely take the fall even though i did nothing wrong.
So he took a week to think it over, My pay had been cut off even though they hadnt made an official decision yet. Eventually i got through the the operation director and he told me that Derek the manager of the store who attacked me had an "its him or me" attitude going on and he refused to work things out......so i lost my job.
Now here is another little bit of weirdness, when the police arrived to the store and i told them what happend, they told me it Wasnt an assult, and that i couldnt press charges.....now im hearing that the police dont make that decision and they shouldnt have said that to me. Im pretty sure that when an argument turns physical it constitutes an assult.
My main concern right now is that the manager of the store IS VERY unstable, He is dangerous and its just a matter of time before he does it again. Although i was only in the store for a month i gained the trust and respect of teh entire staff and some of them are scared of him but they cant just up and quit their jobs. All this has been told to head office and still they backed him.
And to be clear I am not a hot head at all I acted with about as much professionalism as i could, The argument only started because i was being verbaly assulted and i felt I needed to defend myself.
anyway its long and messy and i want to get some info before i talk to a lawyer.
any help would be great.
