awkward position
i was in a kinda analagous situation this summer with some friends
we're all mostly broke so playing for money was a big deal for most of em
i've honestly only played for money a few times, but treated it seriously and did well
so there were 8 or so of us
unfortunately, most of the people i was playing with had a decent knowledge of the game and whatnot, but EVERYONE was playing with the mentality of 'if i never bet i never lose'
everyone would get really really pissy if i raised pre-flop
we play with a ten dollar buy in and they expect me to just sit and let everyone have a crack at the pot, betting skill or no
so i kept raising pre-flop and the few times people would call i got lucky and had good hands and won
once or twice i bet big and lost, i was down to 60 in chips at one point (we started with 500 i believe, not directly comperable to any dollar amount), and before much longer i was back in the lead with some odd 1800
so anyways, people started to talk and bitch because i was playing mean and raising pre-flop and whatnot, and i told them half the time i've been raising with jsut like 4-7 offsuit, and they just get madder, especially my friends gf( also one of my best friends), and she seemed to think i was lying mbbe when i mentioned the 4-7 offsuit
so my quasi-gf is also sitting there watching and rooting for me, and as the hand's dealt, i whisper to her 'i'm gonna win this hand'
i look at my cards, 4-7 offsuit
figures
i stay determined
for once, my friends gf raised pre-flop and i raised back, she called
i knew she had something good, she wouldn't do that unless she had a damn good hand
she had something like QK suited
flop comes: 4 7 Q rainbow
i bet, just to piss her off really, and she goes over the top and goes all in
i call of course
she sees my two pair and is pissed
then the turn: 4
i got a full house, she ended up just with the pair
holy lord she was pissed
and no one else bet the rest of the night really
8 people, started at around 9, didn't end until 330am, and that was me finally knocking out someone and getting it down to me and my best friend
although i have the lead i offer to split just cause i'm pissed off and tired as fuck, and we leave
moral of the story: if you don't bet, you won't lose...yet. but you won't win either
bitches

Maybe you should go on TV if you're really that great at bluffing.
Logically, they are just being sore losers. If you're totally legit in how you play, then they're just (understandably) sad that they're losing their money - and perhaps using you as an excuse for the fact that, truly, they were the ones who lost the money. After all, who can really be blamed but yourself when you intentionally gamble and lose. If there's anything that's been proven time and time again though, it's that people are often definatly ignorant to reason. They won't care if it's their fault, they'll just choose to not like YOU because YOU have their money.
No matter how moronic people seem to be though, idiocy has got reason beat by numbers - that is, nobody will save you, even if you are totally in the right, from people beating the shit out of you or hating you for no justifiable reason. You're not entitled to anything in this world.
In short, stop playing poker with your co-workers, or beat the shit out of the next person who gets all in your face. That'll teach 'em!
Oh wait, fightning might not be the best thing to show up in court for...uhh, better just stop yer gambling and start womanizing more!

I only have one hot female co-worker, and she has been at every game Ive played at. Of course, everyone has figured out I have a type of crush on her, but she (like the last girl i dated) has a boyfriend. She isnt necessarily supportive or negative towards me, but i wish they wouldn't slag me off so in her presence, particularly questioning my sexual preference because i listen to EDM, whilst I stare at her boobs. Like i was saying earlier in an unnamed chat client˛ theres a large and interesting mosaic of understory here too...
