Ministry of Sound Annual ...

I would just like to state how appaled i am with Ministry of Sounds recent works especially there "Annual" compliations. I recently obtained the 2005 Annual compilations (someone brought it for me) and to might disgust i could not listen to the insipd crap on it. I dont even think its classified as dance music. its just plain crap. I am aware that ministry of sound produces and releases these compliations with a insentive for there taget audience, but what happened to old Ministry of sound, maybe its just me but i remember the live sets of '99 '00 '01 etc and they were awesome as well as some of the HARD NRG comps and even chillout sessions. Now they are just shite.

My two cents.

It went seriously down hill here when MoS started doing Australian annuals, I think it was around 2001. From then they have been just REALLY bad, I don't even bother looking at MoS comps now cos I know that they've declined into cheese and shite, don't waste my time nor money.

Yeah from 2002 Ministry Of Suck just slid down that slippery hill of credability so fast. The Trance Nations were good while Ferry mixed them, and then they decided to tell him what tracks to put on there, so he stopped mixing them. They sucked big time, and then Jules stepped in to mix the last two or three, but even so, it's still the commercial rubbish that MoS want on there, instead of actual trance. It's all about the dollar now.

Ok, at least I'm not the only one who thinks the last couple of these have been eurodance cheesefests.

Since the Annual 2002, they have been shocking, and did anyone else notice how they completely missed out an annual 2001, it's ridiculous, they started naming them as the following year, when clearly none of those tracks are from 2005.
So my CD collection looks really odd, with an annual 2000, and then an annual 2003, which was pretty bad, it had a garage CD on it for christ sake.
Stopped buying them now, so it's not all bad, but you'd think they'd keep some sort of consistency.

I'm very dissappointed with The Annual 2005 as well. Even 2004 was better than this year.

Thumbs down

Are MoS the only people to release an Annual CD every other week?.....no wonder it is full of crap

But even worse is that Judge Jules has mixed the latest Euphoria CD The tracklist looks ok but nothing to make you go like the old ones did and I think Underworld - Born Slippy (nuxx) is one of the worst ever tunes to be pressed

Bring in someone new.....

Ministry of Sound compilations are fantastic.

Sure true edm fans and those that have been in the scene and devoted to the genre for a long time are not the target market for these compilations.

But surely these people are smart enough to realise this and not quite dumb enough to bitch about a commercial dance compilation designed to be bought by fans of other genres and casual edm fans. Some of the responses to this thread so far have proved me wrong though it seems.

I mean the shock horror that these people that buy this cd pack could actually be motivated to go to a club and listen to dance music instead of going to see a rock band. I mean how bad is that? Only lovers of non commercial dance music and non cheese should be allowed to attend dance events and spend money that helps all facets of the industry.

How much better would it be if all edm was underground, all compilations were non commercial, there was no such thing as casual edm fans and Minstry of Sound didn't produce albums that had catchy cheesy songs that could actually motivate people to get into the scene.

I apologise in advance to all the narrow minded people that think that all edm releases should not be designed to make lots of money by choosing catchy cheesy songs. Its such a terrible world we live in....
