The internet is an amazing phenomenon. It has singlehandedly brought all the various scum of the earth right to the forefront of people's daily lives.
10 years ago, a lot of folks probably thought we'd never see another pyramid scheme. And yet here they are, back in full swing.
A small piece of advice to all the netizens out there: READ THE TERMS BEFORE SIGNING UP FOR ANYTHING. I know they're long and boring and you're lazy beyond belief, but force yourself. 99% of the success of these scams come from people who are simply too lazy to read the fine print. Yesterday one of my friends on MSN was insisting that I sign up for some "free $250 gift card" for Old Navy. A quick glance over the terms & conditions said (among other things) that it was [a] only available to U.S. residents, [b] required 5 referrals, and [c] those referrals not only have to sign up but ACTUALLY HAVE TO BUY SOMETHING OFF THEIR SITE. This is a classic PYRAMID SCHEME, folks! I asked if he read the terms, he said no, and proceeded to tell me again to just come on, do it, fill out the form, sign up, do it NOW!
