I have one turntable plugged into phono on line 4. I have my Mackie 824s plugged into "Mix 1" on the back of my Xone 92 (rotary version). I start up a record, and I get flashing lights on live 4 (which means it's receiving a signal, right?). Okay, good!
Well I don't hear anything out of the speakers? I only get sound out of the headphones by having line 4's know turned up and the knob for "Monitor" turned up to around 3+.
Why is no sound coming out of my Mackies? I've tried turning every knob on my mixer... no sound at all? Yes, my Mackies are turned on.
Please help! I'm such a n00b.

k, make sure the gain on that channel is up, make sure the fader is up, make sure the mix 1 knob is turned up, then also make sure that the x fader switch for that channel is either in the off position or pointing to the side the x fader is at. Try leaving it at off for now.
i've done all that already

Firstly I'd try to verify the speakers work, turn them up high and touch the end of the cable(unconnected) and it should hum.
Then make sure the headphone section works(checking the inputs basicly).
If both thouse work, which I have a feeling they will.
Try the speakers on a diff output (master out or record out maybe?).

I'd do that, but I have my monitors connected via XLR and Mix 1 is the only one with XLR input... so what do I touch or plug them in to?

Have you tried using the booth outputs (or better acually mix 2)? Not XLR but just to check. It could be a problem with the mix1 output stage maybe(unsual tho cos normally only one channel left or ight would fail)?

I don't have any cables for that type of connection... I only have XLR cables that go from the Mackies into Mix 1.

See if you can borrow off one of your mates and RCA to 3.5mm cable, phono to thouse small standard connections. And conect that to your comp(or speakers/amp which accepts 3.5mm connects) and see if that works.
Edit: Sorry I mean borrow a (not and) phono to 3.5mm cable.
