every 15 minutes or so my laptop keeps turning off, even while im using it and i have no fuckin idea why. i tried using anti virus, but i don't think it's spyware or virus that is the problem...i usually leave it on for days on end, but this never happened to me before...does anyone know why this may be occuring or what i can do?

i'm no tech wiz, but maybe its overheating?

I was smoking hookah in my room and the smoke got into my comp and it overheated and turned off.

no it's a pentium 4...but it turned off like several times...and it never happened before so why would it all of a sudden overheat now?

Are you running on battery power or direct? That would be first question. If that's not the prob, then have you run any virus or spyware software at all on it instead of just f*cking guessing?

To find out if its overheating download and install http://mbm.livewiredev.com/ It is motherboard monitor and it should work on your laptop if the censors are supported by mobomon. If they arent then youll have to use the disks that came with your laptop for a tool to see the tempurator.

and yes, i was running it with the battery plugged in when it turned off, now i took out the battery pack and for now its working..but who knows maybe in 10 minutes or less it will turn off again?!


btw, La5er, if it's overheating, then can i turn it off for the night and by the morning will it work just fine?

Problem seems to be ID'd, power... Bad batteries can f*ck up direct power.

well its certainly not inconsequential, what if im doing some significant work and my shit turns off again?! i have a Dell laptop, how much do you think a new battery will cost and do i have to get it directly from them? i thought battery packs (since they plug into the wall socket as well) last forever and ever lol
