1. Enunciate

2. Think before you speak

3. Speak in complete sentences and show interest (no monotone)

4. Look the interviewer in the eye and smile (don't look at the ground when you walk into the interview)

5. Anticipate questions and prepare accordingly

6. Don't mumble

7. Don't say "I don't know" unless you really don't know

8. Shoulders back, head up (no slouching)

9. Have a couple of questions to ask yourself just in case you're offered the opportunity to ask questions.

10. Say thank you when it's over

ask for business card or something after you're done too. that way you can thank them with a letter (or via e-mail) for the interview and possibly follow-up

go in thinking you have the job. confidence sells, also never say i dont know. if you dont know, talk your way around it. usually interviews are conducted by lowlife personel like HR clerks... ie if you applying for an engineering position, it wont be an engineer interviewing you... that way use big words they wont understand.... thats how i got my job at ford.

and if you really nervous, take a cue from spud and hit some speed before you go in

if thats the mentality you should have, then one word summarazies that list:

FAKE.

Be yourself man, just show plenty of interest, and youll do FINE.

as weird as it sounds, the scene from office space where he goes and talks to the 'consultants' and admits that he does jack shit all day and ends up with a promotion actually holds some truth, that scene's one hell of a satire
be honest, open, calm, and warm
also, if you just allow yourself to relax and answer everything truthfully they'll like it a lot more than someone who's really stiff and has like formulated answers but shows no real personality

btw, what job are you applying for out of curiosity?

to be honest....they dont really give a shit if u situp straight or act proper....they can smell when ur going out of ur way to act like something ur not, all that matters is that as someone said above, pretend u enjoy their company...meaning show interest in the convo..thats pretty much all u have to do..just be positive answer whatever they ask and just dont spill ur guts, be conservative in what u say. DOnt be over polite cuz they know its garbage...i went to quite a few where i pretended to be all genuine and polite, but it just didnt fit me as a person...s-0

be clean shaven

wear some nice clothes with good aftershave etc - u dont want to smell like an arse.

have some good munch before u go in - last thing u want is ur stomach rumbling during interview.

have a shit also - nerves and stuff might make u shit urself or something ROFL

mobile on silent or off - seems unprofessional if ur mobile goes off.

be positive about everything u do.

uh thats abt it really

I kinda agree with the low-life HR type, but at my interview there was an engineer too. No technical questions really but common sence i.e. harder ones.

And I totally 100% disagree with trying to bull shit when you don't know. One of the most important things as an engineer is to say when you don't understand something.

Loads of guys I know have got jobs at serious places have stated they had "no idea" about some technical questions.

I'd say just be honest, but well researched about the company, the site(place you'll be working, what they do basicly), postion and where you want to be in 5 years.
