Restrictions on new members.
Because there are LOTS of Spam type threads these days on the board (FREE IPODs etc.), i think it would be a good idea if perhaps new members can't make a thread within the first week of them being registered. This i think would deter a lot of Spammers.
I don't know if making something like this is actually possible (as in the programming), but i think it would help the anti-spam fight.
Others thoughts / opinions??

How about a question 'are you here to offer free stuff' most of them are probably stupid enough to tick 'yes' and end up in jail straight off
on a more serious note this wont really put off the spammers as they will jsut remember to coem back in a week and spam, only way to deal with them is for the mods to hunt them out and ban them

Do you really think spammers will write down in a memo "come back to Tranceaddict in a week to start a spam thread". I think the week long restriction will deter them even posting at all.

ive seen a few threads around on tips on how to spam ipod links etc and i saw a example of regiser for forum XXX and go back in 5 days and post their referal link
and the 1 week wait thing would be a bit harsh on new members who arnt here to spam their free ipod, tv, house, plain, moon, radio show, website, etc

i dont know if they do or not, but i think itd be pretty funny to see
Do you not think that this would also deter legitimate posters?
Granted that they're able to post within previously created threads, but what if they register for the sole purpose of starting a specific thread to answer a question they have?
