Be Cool! D-Link Wireless Router Problem (through wire)

hey guys i gotta problem and could use someones help
im struggling on my ***** D-link wireless router for 2 days now!!!! how the FUCK DO I CONNECT THIS STUPID DEVICE!!!

the router is hooked up to my computer through the wire, so mine is the domain...
it worked before, until i unplugged the stupid device by accident, now its fucked again!

this is what i tried:
reseting both the dsl box, and the router box 1000000 times
restarting the computer and doing this
putting in all the info thats needed,
switching wires several times
putting in my DSL usrename and password
unplugging the stupid router and dsl box for 3 minutes, then plugging it back in...

what i do know:
its not the wires
its not all the things i tried up there ^

my problem:
i see the ip, for some reason it sends packets but doesnt recieve packets, and i cant surf the web, basically im not online, but it says i am connected, but im really not!
-and im using sympatico internet, works fine when i plug it directly to the pc, so something is wrong with the router or my pc...

SOOOO pleeeeeeeeeeeeease if anyone can help me out here i would be very greatful, otherwise i have to go buy a THIRD router in the past year, i dont know why the hell they make these stupid devices so complicated

throw ALL the suggestions u got all at once, i can take it

thanks

you can try updating the firmware on the router, or doing a hard reset (there is a reset button you can push with a pin) also login to your router and check your security settings, namely that the packet filter is off

first... make sure the wires are connected in the proper place... for example: the LAN wire from the ADSL modem should be connected to the WAN port of the router..

second.. go to http://192.168.2.1 and check ur username and password (re-enter them if not sure)..

if that doesnt work.. well.. dont go buying a new router.. ask a friend..

My solution to all my old D-Link problems: Throw the piece of shit out the window and buy another brand.

Fuck D-Link.

Do the obvious thing:

If it doesn't work with wires, try it without.

A few recommendations off the top of my head:

- Try turning off the wireless - sometimes other devices like phones can interfere.

- Reset the router to factory defaults (through the admin page), and work from there. This often solves many unexplainable problems.

- Make sure you've upgraded your router to the latest firmware. Sometimes DSL ISPs will change the way they handle PPPoE in some way that the router doesn't recognize. In most cases, the manufacturer (yes, even D-Link) will release an update for these problems.

- In the first post, you mentioned something about a domain - if this means you have a server running as a domain controller, then you have to do special configuration on the domain controller to set the router up as the primary gateway (as opposed to the domain controller itself), or create a bridge on the server. I'd say to just turn off the domain controller because there's no practical reason to have one on a home network.

- Make sure you've got DHCP enabled on the PC you're trying to connect with. If you're running any firewalls like ZoneAlarm, sometimes they fail to detect when you're on a new network and start blocking all traffic. Try disabling them, doing an ipconfig release/renew, and starting them up again to force them to see the new network.

- Also, just as a point of reference, check the router's status page, record all the connection-specific information (like IP, subnet mask, gateway, DNS, etc.), then try doing a direct connection from PC to DSL and check ipconfig to see if the information is actually the same. Maybe your router is getting an IP address but not grabbing the correct DNS, or something...
