to do this special filtered sound, you must sample an old funk track.

House uses a lot of funky basslines, filtered atmospheric & envolving pads, stabs (which is quite simple to do in Recycle from a lot of lead/pads samples - you only need practice!), samples from a lot sources (at this moment I thinking about Way Out West - they are the masters of Progressive House and they use a large amount of samples), Rhodes & Wurlitzer on the top, Moogs (Minimoog & Memorymoog samples: SFX, Pads and Bass). The percussion & drumloop is an important topic for House style: there are a lot of tracks only for them, layered and generally, they are filtered as well, and it's very common to modulate the cutoff for perc/drums using an LFO (slow to medium speed). Use Emagic EXS24 sampler for your prec/drums, the filter on this baby is amazing! You can accelerate your learning curve if you buy some good comercial sample cd (DEF MIX David Morales, House Master Beatnik, Dance Mega Drums 2, Dance Mega House Dance, NO KICK Vol.1 & 2 etc.) NO KICK cd are very cool cos you get the percussion loops without kicks and you can put your own kick! Loading these loops (in fact, any four-on-the-floor loop) in Recycle is the best way to learn how to make your own loops. I can show a simple way to create stabs from samples on Recycle later - that's all about how to envelope the sound. I always make that from my own recorded library (those synths I've already had and sold - I recorded multisamples from them).

Soundforge
Acid Pro
Also do you know if there is a demo for Emagic EXS24?
I would also like to know if you are able to give me a couple of steps in the right direction like a mini tutorial as such.
If not thats cool cause the info youve givin me is a good place to start.

yah sound forge you can do loops. If I were you I would toss fruity loops and score cubase sx 2 on ebay for $100 used. So cheap for bitchin software that you can do loops in it no probelm and everything else. I guess acid is cool for throwing loops in at different speeds and all making them the same speed... but you can also use konkat for this I believe.
