Imagine the following situation.

You get the opportunity to remix a song from a dj, who is quite a
little bit famous. THIS IS YOUR CHANCE to get released! You're happy and some days
later you get the remix package.

First thing: The vocals are so cheesy, that even DJ Sammy or would be ashamed.

After the first shock you make a remix in your own style.

Then you send it back to the DJ and he tells your to redo it in Jan Wayne style, because then your chances are higher to get on his vinyl.

What would you do? Trying the Jan Wayne style or say to the DJ: Do it yourself, you cheesy bastard?

I know it sucks, but a professional attitude would be either:

a) No thanks, this is so not what I'm looking for.
b) I'll take it and release it under a new nickname, so nobody will think of this when I release 'serious music' someday.

another thing is if you make it as a remixer your producering days are over cau its so much easyier to do remixs than original tunes...#

Everyone has bills to pay!
Successful work leads to more work and more importantly contacts. When you submit it to the guys label, include the cheesed version, a dub and your own personal style mix that you would normallly do.
Demonstrates that you can do what is required but also other things.
Labels have offshoot labels you know...and they do talk to one another!
Its also a release credit to your name.
Would you have even heard or Armand van helden if it wasnt for his mix of Tori Amos 'professional widow'? I doubt it. That was an awesome remix of an unknown commercially tune (to pick a random example) and look what happened after it blew up.

Why do you think producers have so many working names?
The fact that ferry corsten wrote mixed and produced Doop- 'Doop' back in the early 90s is testament to that.....

All this 'selling out' bullshit attitude is utter rubbish. Its a music BUSINESS. wake up people.

I would say that you should take the offer, make a remix under a different nickname, and hope for the best. This isn't something that happens every day !!
