Question Bag Setup

I've been trying to mix for a while and a couple weeks ago I finally got off my ass and tagged all my vinyl's. Now I have my bag in order of BPM and within each bpm it's arranged by alphabetical order of the last name of each producer. What are the other ways everyone sets up their bags?

i made a thread on this a while ago, and at the time i felt that the best idea was to arrange them alphabetically. nowadays i arrange them by genre. it's the only way to be

it was a loooong time ago, so i doubt it would come up. you could also arrange the tunes by key, but i don't like to do that

How do you figure out the key? I know that's how Sandra C. mixes her sets is with the same key so it doesn't clash.

uh.. most people do it with a keyboard or something. i do it with my guitar. it's hard to explain unless you have musical knowledge- you listen for the root note (usually, it's the note that occurs the most frequently) of the track you're playing and figure out which note it is on the keyboard or whatever. and that's the key of the tune. if you need any more info i could probably make a sound sample for you or something. oh yeah, and there's a thread about harmonic mixing that's been stickied^

In response to topic... my vinyl is organised by artist.

I have contemplated rearranging by genre, but there is so much crossover between genre's that I wouldn't really know where to start.

mine's by label. same-label vinyls are grouped in the back alphabetically and then the labels that i only have one label for are grouped in the front by artist name. it's all about the ease of finding a particular track for me.

BPM and key. The order isn't exact because each side usually has a different BPM and key.
