MP3/Digital DJ Mix Contest!
Following in the shadow of mr2gti, here is the next contest, and HOUSE is included for all you house loving DJ's out there!
So, you think you can MIX? Well put your music where your
mouth is and get signed up! This call is going out to many people so get signed up early. To sign up, you will need to email me at [email protected][/email] and I will provide further instructions! We need judges as well as DJ's!
The Rules:
1. Mixes must be DIGITALLY constructed; IE MP3, WAV, Winamp files, Real Media etc. The submitted mixes will need to be made with a PC mixing program (or two...) No tables or CD decks.
2. We need 15 DJ’s and**5**judges. The number of judges will be based mainly on the amount of support for the contest.
3. Music style should be either Trance, House, or tech, or any combination of those. Remember this when constructing your mix because you WILL be scored on the style of music.
4. DJ’s please don’t sign up to judge! We would all like to vote for ourselves but.... LOL!
5. Mix length should be 60-80 minutes with a minimum of 10 tracks.
6. All mixes should have a track list with them.
7. All mixes must be encoded, and submitted as 128kbps-160kbps MP3; that is the ONLY file type that will be accepted.
8. ALL MIXES MUST BE SUBMITTED BY September 16, 2005!!!!!! When your mix is ready, you may email me at [email][email protected] and I will provide upload info.
9. HAVE FUN!!!!!! That’s why we’re even here, right? 
******The top 3 DJ’s will be selected by our judges and the winning mixes will be hosted for one month!******
Judges:
This is your section! It is important that the mixes are judged fairly and with a calm, cool and collected approach. The judging will NOT be your personal opinion of a song and if you simply don’t like one of the DJ’s please be subjective!
1. Please examen the skill of the mixing first and foremost. Was the mix smooth, or was it choppy and in need of help? You get the idea.
2. Next, we need a system of judging the following: Flow of the music, transitions, beat mixing, and the overall feel of the mix. So here’s what we shall do. You will have choices and you will make your selections. If you have additional feed back or comments, there will be a section for that as well.
A) Flow of the music:
* It was completely flawless! How much smoother can you get? - 10 points
* That was pretty good! Great job! - 8 points
* It was good! Nice job! - 6 points
* Well, it definitely wasn’t the best I’ve heard but it was pretty ok! - 4 points
* Sorry man, but I’m just NOT feeling it. Keep trying though! - 2 points
Those are the choices for each of the sections.
1. Flow of the music
2. Transitions
3. Beat mixing
4. Overall feel of the mix
5. Additional comments
I’ll set up a form for each of the judges and the judges may remain anonymous to the public, after submitting their voting forms if they so choose.
3. Judges! There will be NO discussions, email, or PM’s about how you are voting! If you disclose your votes to anyone else, you will be terminated from the judges section. We want this to be fair and not just a popularity contest.
