Pulled the trigger and got my soon to be 18-year old son 22" Rims for his Grand Marquis. Cost near $3k. What the hell. That's what a good dad does. I don't want to hear bitching and moaning about getting something less than he really wanted the rest of my life nor have to think about it 10 years from now when the money is just rotting in a bank somewhere. I got enough for beer and fish bait and that's all I need anyhow....

There's a word that sums up this sort of behaviour, and that word is 'reject.'

Chrome TIS or something like that. I don't know much about rims, but my son tells me they are the tits. And with the other post, no I'm not trying to buy his love. I've got this kid past high school finally and going into college. He's been a runaway for 32 days, drug addict, in a military school, expelled three times, etc., etc. in his storied past and I'll throw him some bones if I can set him up for success in life in the big picture. When you have kids moving out into the real world, probably about your age, your parents suddenly worry about what they will become and bend over backwards to help them stand up on their own.
I don't want mine mowing lawns and drug addicted for a living.

No offense taken. If your progeny ain't shit in life, then you ain't shit either. YOu have to even overlook felony offenses and weigh in to turn their lives around to become useful members of society. After a certain age you can no longer influence them no matter how hard you try. They become your legacy after all.

I salute you Smoke for being the good kind of dad.
Great for you! I don't even blink spending $1600+ on absolute state of the art CPUs with fastest videos, extreme RAM, etc. (minus monitors, etc. which I already got) for my other kids. That's an investment in learning. You can't keep tempo with state of the art games or technology with computers over a couple years old.
BTW, homey here has the clunker out the four I own at the moment. I don't need state of the art power to program software for databases at work 'cause they ain't got that kinda power either. I need something mid-level to make sure software works at all speeds.
