My first gig was at PF#1 in the side room at Salt. They had the most complicated Allen & Heath mixer i have ever seen (a whole lot of extra stuff on it for live acts from what i remember).
Mixed in my first record relatively painlessly (although shaking lots and was very nervous).
After it was fully in, and the other record was finished i breathed a sigh of relief.
I turned to my left to start looking for my next record.
Next thing i know the needle races across the record.
It seems that when i turned to look for the next choon my headphone cable knocked the stylus off the record.
Lucky the room was filled with mainly my friends, as they all cheered me on once i got the music going again.
All i did was think to myself, well it can only be up hill from here!

Nothing too bad, having five of the best local DJs standing at the bar about 2m away from the DJ booth didn't do much for my nerves though.
haha let's go pkc, the time has arrived. Numark decks, dodgy mixer, have fun mate! and please don't play any nu-nrg.

haha, thanks benjamin!!
its not even here yet and already the horror started- mixer with no split-cue! prob not a big deal for many, but when youve been practicing that way for 20 months, you kinda get used to it

Massive dirty bogan.
Both hands stop both TT's mid-mix.
yells "PINK FLOYD!!!!!!!"
that is fvcking hilarious. i hope the bouncers taught him (painfully) the errors of his ways

majorly hung over (incidentally my first one of those too), quite a few train wrecks, and couldnt quite get my head around anything, i often found myself touching the knobs on the mixer to look like i was doing something when i was thinking of about 100 different other things at once.
still had fun tho regardless and i wanna do it again

thanks jpl!
well, wasnt too bad. coulda been better, but coulda been a lot worse. its amazing how used you get to your own equipment. everything about techs makes me hard in the pants now (numark's pitch slider blows goats imo). and wtf is the deal with mixers without a 12 o'clock notch nor a lovely bunch of LEDS for me to match volume? i was sending levels all over the place
the only contribution to this thread that i have is 1 dude decided to wander over right as the mix was slipping and waved his hands around (apparently the volume needed to be turned down) so it was thomas the tank engine after that
special thanks to ghostface, mr begic and of course loulou for their roles in my meteoric rise to mediocrity
techs techs techs techs techs!
edit:
fuck this makes me laugh.

we want tracklists PKC!!!
what did you play.
horror stories.. well none that i can think of, of where shit majorly goes belly up.. however sometimes nerves get the better of you... i remember near the start of a 2hr slot i had, going into Mekka - Diamonback (angeles remix) things went orrealy messy.. it wasnt pretty.. but the night fixed itself..
however just nerves of trying to put needle on record and it slipping and running along sides of turntable. that happens abit.. either cos of nerves or too much booze at open dex
well done PKC... i'd like to say nerves go away, but i dont think they do!!
edit - horror moment remembered... playing records... mix going along sensationally, as im bringing in the new tune, thinking im impressing the international standing next to me... i take off my headphones to realise you cant hear shit through the speakers.. and im like WTF!!! then adam white leans over and goes, your mid switch is killed.. and then presses the button... BOOOOOM in comes the 2nd tune... omgzidie!
