Doesnt matter if it will fit, you can check the dimensions and measure you're stuff for that.

It will be too heavy to take on the plane.

Separate flight cases.

I have 2 ATA flight cases for each of my turntables and i just throw my mixer in my suitcase, pack it with clothes and whatnot protecting it.

Thing is isint their a limit to the ammount of items you can bring with you on the plain? Like i need to have at least one bag for cloths and shit then the rest i was gonna use for my decks and stuff. Not even gonna try and bring my studio equipment. Looking like it might be easier to sell my stuff here and just buy it back in the uk.

you have two options:

1. 2 "bags" ( one for your clothes belongings etc, one for your dj equipment )
2. 3 "bags" ( one for your clothes belongings etc, two for your dj equipment ).

With solution 1 you might have to pay a very high overweight fee.

With solution 2 you might have to pay an extra bag fee but it is usually much cheaper then the overweight fee.



Two ATA cases like DinoXpress suggested appears like the best solution. Cause one coffin for everything will not only risk being oversized but it's also overweight.



Call the airline and see with them. They are usually pretty good at giving that kind of info in advance. Their websites sometimes have that info but it doesn't go into much detail online usually.

The only time I had to bring my decks with me on a plane, I was allowed two checked bags, I have two ATA cases for my decks, so those were checked, I had one carry on bag of clothes, and then my mixer case was small enough to check at the gate, meaning they just stowed it at the front of the plane, and for me, this was at no extra fee, though I'm sure it depends on the airline/plane etc.

Don't know if that helps at all, but it was the easiest way for me to do it... Good luck...

You may want to look at how much a separate shipping company would charge. I'm not saying it would be cheap but talking flight cases on planes etc. just scares the shit out of me.

If you decide to sell you stuff and by new, compare the price of TTs and stuff in the UK to your own country first.

The other thing that struck me is that you haven't even gone into bringing records with you.

First up, how long are you coming for? If it's permanent then pay what you need to in order to get our stuff over here safely. It would be better in the long run.

Second, if it's for a shorter period of time, would it not be better to just bring your records and see if you can hook up with DJs over here, it's not like there is a shortage...

Third, where are you going? (Just out of interest). If you are coming my way give me a shout.

At a push you could get 2 turntables allowed as one piece of baggage- but that is without the added weight of flight cases....in which case they will get battered so scrub that idea.

A coffin case will be oversized AND overweight.....which will cost you shitloads.

solution: send the tts/coffin via cargo..... send it via ship cargo which takes ages but costs not a lot in comparison.

Since the issue of damage/risk with flying using flight cases has been brought up, I figure I might as well mention looking into whether or not your insurance provider (should you have one that is) offers flight insurance. As long as my cases were ATA rated and could be locked after inspection at check in, my decks/mixer were fully insured in the event anything would happen... at the risk of sounding like a major dork, I did the same thing with my golf clubs, which is how I randomly found out about this.

Just one more option... Maybe not the best, but it worked for me.
