::Question:: About Paul van Dyk Recent Live Show

I saw him at Ice in Las Vegas on the 30th. The show was insane... But I do have a few questions..

What software is he using these days? He had 2 laptops running that night.

Also, if he was using Final Scratch, where were the vinyls that night?

Really interested to figure this out. Thanks.

AFAIK he's using Serato Scratch in conjuction with CDJs (not technics), and using the second laptop with Ableton Live, and while some have said he only uses this for samples...pics I have seen clearly look like hes playing whole tracks or at least major parts of tracks off it.

I've also heard some ableton effects in his sets.

So..I think thats whats up, but I could be wrong...

Albeton is kind of lame in my opinion. It's very good for studio use, but watching some using it live is not interesting at all. It's kind of like, "I hope you're all having fun watching me stare at my computer screen." For all we know he could just be doing his taxes on there or something...

Yea... I use Albeton for... recording my mixes with a Waves L3 on it live.

Yea I know I'm lazy and should volume level better, PSH! I'm getting there.

I would rather just have a pioneer efx unit and some CDJs in all honesty, seem more fun to play with those than to use Albelton.

Shouldn't you be partying with people, making out with slutty club whores, and having a good time instead of just looking at the dj as he puts on a record or inserts a cd?

The quality of the music matters, not the way it's made.

Whats more is that the quality of an ableton mix can far exceed the quality of a CD/vinyl mix.

Whoa everyone, I was just joking. I really don't give a crap what he uses, just trying to be funny. It's true that only the music and the mixing matters, but it does make a set a little less interesting just watching a DJ use a computer.
