They do a good surface cleaning of the teeth, then they really dig into your gums to try to get everything out from the surface of the tooth, including the parts that are covered by your gum. This involves alot of gum pushing and seperation from your teeth, but gets rid of anything brushing, flossing, and listerineing doesn't get

There will be some blood, but unless you're squeamish, I really doubt you'll have too much of a problem, especially if you've had good oral health in between visits to dentists
