Really good opening sets...

Okay, yeah. What are some really good opening sets, by big names or little names...recorded, or that you heard live.

Some of the best opening sets I've heard live:

Kazell opening for John Digweed @ The Mayan LA (With his last 3 tracks, Kazell dropped us off in darkville, and then Digweed had no choice but to continue into the darkness....fuckign awesome.)

Architects of Sound opening for Steve Lawler @ Avalon LA (slow chunky prog at around 124, deep brooding stuff, perfectly set an erie vibe before Lawler took over.)

John Do & Justin Gourley opening for Nick Warren & Danny Howells @ Avalon LA (Just fucking bomb)

Recordings:

Hands down Paolo Mojo opening for Sasha @ Axis Boston .flac recording.

Really sick opening set, with the last two tracks he tones it down just enough, and hands it over to Sasha with Discopolis...yeeeauh!

Opening sets are always interesting, cause they are very difficult. A good opening set can make the rest of the night amazing. To me a night without a nice opening set feels incomplete, I like there to be a nice progression to the music and atmosphere, and the best openers are very good at this.

Hernan Cattaneo and James Zabiela B2B opening for James Lavelle followed by Sasha and Digweed at the Ultra Carry On in WMC 2005, it was quite a scene, i cried. Lavelle sucked though.

Yeah thats what i heard. I forgot to add that the worst opening set I've ever heard was Mark Tabernner opening for Sasha @ ICE Las Vegas, tied with Lavelle opening for Holden @ Avalon LA.

Beatmatching? Who needs that!

yeah man sans lavelle that night was the night of the conference for me last year.

best "warm-up" set i've ever heard was desyn masiello opening for sasha last year, just dark, moody, rolling prog that set the tone perfect for sasha to come on and just destroy.

"I’m a dance floor favorite? Great! I would say the passion that I feel for the music I buy and the honesty with how I play it. I play the records I love not the ones that simply work. I’ve never taken the easy music option (which would make me a lot more money by the way) but chosen to push people a little. I try to draw people in a new direction slightly and expand their taste a little more than other DJ’s." - Lee Burridge

Shouldn't guys like Zabiela, Cattaneo, Mojo, Lisle, et al. be headlining shows? Or are these sets before their rise to fame?

EDIT: I'm not saying its degrading to open, but aren't their resumes worthy of a headline?

Those were shows that were probably all-headliner shows. WMC events are known for that.
