TOTA has a crisis on its hands
I'm gonna say some things that some people aren't gonna like hearing, but it needs to be said.
Some people with bright futures are about to ruin their lives with the paths they are choosing. It really saddens me and others to see this happen before our very eyes. Its bad enough that it happens here in our hometown on a weekly basis, with some people's houses being 'drug central', but its even more distressing when people take things to extremes on vacation, seeing a party out of town as an excuse to party even harder. Why has clubbing become more about the drugs than it did the music for some people? Why do people require a dangerous coctail of substances to have a good time?
There are a few letters of the alphabet, and the name of a popular beverage that seem to be taking control of people's lives in a bad way. You'd think people would be smarter about the drugs they choose to do considering we've seen first-hand what they can do, but obviously I give people more credit than they deserve.
The one that is most concerning is the G usage that is going around in some circles. Never did I ever think anyone from TA would be stupid enough to make G part of their weekend routine, considering it was the drug of choice for the ever-reviled Gino steroid heads and sketchy CoZo circles, but oh how its rearing its ugly head here! Some of us had the misfortune of seeing another G-out on several occasions last year, yet months later, we're now learning how widespread the problem has become among people who shoulda learned a lesson from observing it. Any drug that can do that and has such a high chance of hospitalization rate, should not be messed with. Its especially disconcerting when a more recent incident didn't seem to stop others from their own usage.
The other big problem here is the rampant K usage. Whats even more gross is the blatant 'glorification' of it, with jokes of 'Tony Island' all over the threads (those of you who understand, know). The same people who bitched about the k-tarded asians at the Guv are no better, aside from the fact that they're not sitting on the floor. Keep it up, kids- just a few months more and you too will have a hole burned thru your septum requiring plastic surgery to fix it, and a bad habit you cant kick.
As for coke- I never understood that drug. It's not even fun or sociable, nor is it even good quality up here in Canada (yet people still pay the same high price for it & get just as addicted). And for what??? So they can stay up for days on end, just so they can do more drugs? Not one of these people can even list a single moment where coke made their night 'fun'. If it isn't fun, what's the point even??
Whats even a bigger joke is the monthly "I'm gonna take a vacation from it" promise or "my usage is down" comment, which never seems to last long enough for the next weekend to roll around. When you cant even remember when the last drug-free weekend was, guess what? You have a problem. Dont think you're exempt cuz you don't do it 7 days a week.
Whats most interesting is the young age of some of these people, who have no problem spending $100+ minimum on weekend party favors. Never did I then, nor when I was older, spend that kinda money. Since when did student budgets get so lucrative? The sad thing is, these very people are missing out on opportunities / events/ vacations, etc... because they dont have the money for those things when they come up- yet they somehow have the money for their weekly drug habit. Messed up priorities? I think so. As for the older folks who partake in this behavior, they should know better. Shows you that no matter what age you are, you're just as vulnerable.
People need to stop and look at themselves before something bad happens.... something really bad. At the rate some of you are going, that bad thing is gonna happen REAL soon. At the very least, I forsee these issues drawing a big divide in the TA community, between the people who glorify this behaviour, and those who are sick of watching it, and getting dragged into the drama and being lied to their faces ("no really, I quit/ reduced my usage tremendously").
I am by no means some high and mighty anti-drug person- I've just never let drugs take control of me (maybe I am a rarity?). But people here are forgetting that they're not invincible, nor are they Superman. Its not fair to push yourself to extremes, because its your friends and family who are going to have to deal with it and witness it when it happens, and pay the price as well, on many levels. And that's IF your friends do the right thing, and IF the paramedics get to you in time. There are TOO many consequences to list even. People forget they are playing with fire, and its only a matter of time before someone get burned. I, for one, need to distance myself from people who are going to put me in these situations.
Either people get their shit together (and I really hope they do), or maybe they just should hop on their beloved 'Tony Island' and go float away to join www.drugaddicts.com .
