u sure u got the same?
mine are a lightweight (compared to my Sony MDR DJ headphones) and the frequency range is pretty linear

There's some kind of myth going around that headphones damage your hearing, it's just not true. Just keep the volume at a reasonable level and you won't harm your hearing. There's no need to blast headphones when monitoring, just keep the volume at a comfortable level. If headphones damage your hearing, there'd be a whole lot of DJs with hearing loss, and that's just not the case. Monitors can damage your hearing too if you crank them too loud. The speaker volumes at dance clubs is overkill a lot of the time, another threat to your hearing.
I have tinnitus too, but not from headphones, I believe I got it from playing guitar in Metal bands and going to concerts.
Back to the original post, I don't know a lot about Technics RP-DJ1200. Main thing is, you want an extremely wide frequency range. You want flat, uncolored sound reproduction. Get studio headphones, not audiophile ones.
