I kown the system reqs for Vista are not out of this world, but it looks to me that to get all these visual and search features to work at peak performance, you will need one bad ass rig.
From reading reviews and press coverage, meta data seems to be big on MS's list of improved (important) features. Only one problem; meta data will have to be read from each file, and with today's media happy public that will be a very slow process. Here it comes down to the slowest part of the computer, the hard drive. If they want people to move towards a more search oriented OS experience(rather than file tree), hard drives are going to have to speed up, or you will need a tonne more RAM.
I just don't want Vista, I want a more secure XP. Kudos for MS trying to bring something new to us, but there is a reason Vista has been delayed so much, and will get a luke warm reception. It will be at least a couple of years before I switch to Vista, unless when it comes out, it is THAT much better.
I am very skeptical at this point.
