International Freedom Festival
I just thought I'd share with you one of my favorite traditions back here in Windsor. I grew up going to The International Freedom Festival down by the water every year. There were TONS and TONS of carnival rides, cotton candy, concerts...all kinds of stuff. It was always fun to go down there, even as I got older...just as something different to do.
The thing that made it the most fun was our annual fireworks extravaganza on the last Wednesday in June. It is one of the biggest fireworks shows in North America. 45 minutes of bang, bang, bang. People camp out there for days before the event. Last year was the only year I've ever missed it. (damn Chrysler!)
Just a 'lil tid bit of info: It takes 5 days for dozens of specialists to load 3 barges with 250,000 lbs. of fiberglass mortars, 100 miles of wire, 500 tons of sand and more than 10,000 fireworks shells for the annual fireworks display.
After you guys have seen these fireworks...NOTHING compares. You should all try to check them out sometime.
