Giving Armin his last chance...
Going to see mr Van Buuren tonight @ Godskitchen in Birmingham and having listened to some quality ASOTs recently am looking forward to a great 4 hour set...
HOWEVER, the last 3 times I've seen him he has been rather disappointing, the sets not really flowing or taking you on a journey like they used, not uplifting enough. I'm hoping he plays better this time but if not I'm going to unattatch the implied excellent trance set from his name!

He plays exactly what he plays on ASOT, in a different order. He may throw in one or two new tracks. I fail to see how you wouldn't like it if you like ASOT

No there's potential from ASOT to make great sets but he chooses the crappy stuff, e.g. Racoon - Love You More is good for home listening but shouldnt be in a set at a club, if I hand picked a set from the last 4 weeks of ASOT + some older stuff it would be brill!

Armin is a fine dj. Mixing is flawless and he plays w/ tremendous enthusiasm (Enthusiasm prob comes from a big pay check!ha). His sets do have a "flow" even now.
My guess is you are just outgrowing that sound. I rarely ever listen to ASOT any more. I just don't like it, and years ago I looked forward to the show every week.

I thought about that but I dont think I am, someone like Andy Bagguley plays uplifting trance and i absolutely adore his sets as he doesnt play chunky or cheesy stuff, just uplifting trance!

Have fun! He will play some stuff from current ASOT shows and some not from ASOT. So he keeps ya on your toes most of the night because ya get a few classics in there as well. Hope he throws down a killer set for ya, I'll be seeing him in 2 weeks in DC!

Let's not forget that the "sound" has changed over the past half-decade. It's not that most have outgrown the sound. It's more likely that they just don't like the current trance trends.
