When you switch to MULTI mode on the Virus you now have 16 midi channels whereas in SINGLE you have one.
So when you add a MIDI out plugin in SINGLE mode, you set the midi port to whatever your soundcard is set to. You set the channel number to one. You are good to go.
In multimode you need to add a MIDI out plugin for every consecutuve channel.
So if you have 2 channels enabled on the virus and you want to hear both channels playing back you need to add 2 MIDI out plugins to the channel window, both set to Port X (where X = the port your soundcard is configured for) but the first MIDI channel will be 1 and the second will be 2.
Easy.
If you want to use all 16 channels you will of course need to open 16 MIDI out plugins, configured to MIDI channels 1 through to 16.
You also need to enable that channel in the MULTI mode menu on the Virus as they all disabled bar the 1st one by default. Then you can mix them all up, detune them relative to each other etc on the Virus. If you need to make modifications to a single patch and you dont want to quit out of MULTI mode, press both SINGLE and MULTI together to go into (you guessed it) MULTI SINGLE mode. You can save the single patch changes in there whilst still operating in MULTI mode. |
But the funny thing is when i load a preset in my virus controller, it will automaticaly switch to SEQ mode... and i cant change it back to MULTI mode.
& The most confusing for me is...
" open 16 MIDI out plugins, configured to MIDI channels 1 through to 16."
how? LOL
sorry im really blind bout thing like this... hehe
Thanks alot for the detail reply man
cheers!
