Sorry if this has been answered before, but I couldn't find anything relevant under a search.

At present, I am ripping all my vinyl onto computer so I can then burn them onto cd.
I have all the levels set so that it doesn't go into red using Wavepad, however it won't let me convert them to 320kbs (the highest is 187kbs)

If I was just to save the file as normal (without encoding) once I had recorded the track, would it make a difference?

does it save the project files in uncompressed form? if so just use another application to encode

sorry to jack your thread...but does anybody know if you encoding a mp3 can cause bpm to fluctuate?

If you're ripping from vinyl, why not just rip straigjht into wav and keep the tracks as wav?

Thats what i've been doing.

and no encoding to mp3 wont make your tempo fluctuate but downloading tracks without paying for them will.

Playing tracks on my tech 1200s makes the bpm fluctuate...

Thanks guys, that's the answer I was hoping for.

Addional note to what Spawnmaster was saying, re-encoding at a higher bitrate will not increase the quality. Just record your vinyl as wav & then burn to CD or convert to mp3 at 320kbps with dbPowerAmp to save a bit of room if you're just trying to back up your vinyl on CD/DVD.

Yep, P2P rips are often shoddy with fluctuating pitch. Support the artists kids...

hmmm...the volume will be loader than a normal DL right? I'm ganna try this /w audacity. quick question....

alright I just recorded a track from vinyl to my comp. although there is a lil buzz noise from the mixer/ turntable grounding effect =( it's not noticable when you play out from speakers but in the headphones it is.
