Please critique the Pioneer CDJ-100

I've been mixing on 1200s for 5 years and I'm getting frustrated with having to pay a premium to get vinyl imported (from european vendors on GEMM.com). I am looking to buy 2 Pioneer cdj-100s (because im a poor student) and have been searching the forums to gather a critical evaluation of this particular cdj, but am yet to find one. Before you tell me that what I really want is a cdj-200, please let me know why I should not want a cdj100. I am not looking for all the gravy stuff that comes with other models, like a sampler with looping functions or filters or that jazz. I am interested to know if the start/stop button is responsive and if the pitch control is accurate. If the CDJ-100 is going to perform like a gemini turntable, I want to be sure to avoid this purchase. Thank you guys for your imput, I will be checking this post regularly.

CDJ-100 are awesome, they work flawlessly and will last forever, but you should try and go for the CDJ-200, I don't think they cost much more, and the main benefit is the extra accuracy with the pitch, the 100s are .1% and the 200s can do .02%.

I have one of each. The 100 is very basic, but functions very well. The 200 has some nice features on it that I really like. The pitch resolution is very important IMO, and I also find myself playing with the loop function a lot. I would save up a little more and buy the 200... or just save your 360 bucks, and buy vinyl with it.

I'm in the same boat. I can't afford the 200s and I'm considering the 100's. I might end up w/ one 200 and one 100.

Do you find the .1 pitch adjustment on the 100 to be difficult? That is my main concern.

yea i understand the price differece isnt that tremendous, however, the thing is, i'm fittin' to buy a cdj-100 used. haha. i'm greatful for all of your input. is there any delay with the start/stop switch? am i going to need to compensate for any delay (i think this is my greatest concern, besdes the accuracy of the pitch control).

well i suppose i'm going to have to sell my first child or something because it sounds like i'd have to ride the pitch control to get the cdj100 to hold a prolonged mix. thanks for the insight everyone.

p.s. to anyone offended about the statement about my first child, i dont have any children. haha. if i did then i probably could sell him/her on ebay and get the cdj1000s.

I've been very impressed with my cdj 100's. I've had em for almost 2 years and they still work great. Yeah the pitch resolution isn't all that great but that's just allowed to learn the invaluable skill of pitch riding.

Doesn't the CDJ100 have that horrible "stutter cue"? I never use that on my CDJ800, I think they included it for those who originally had early CDJ models & had become used to it.

CDJ800 has 0.05% increments which is fine but it would be nice to have 0.02%. You get used to it so I guess the same would be true of 0.1%. I've never used CDJ100 sepcifically but the "newer generation" CDJ's (I have mk1 CDJ800) have pretty much instant start when you hit the play button so the same is probably ture for CDJ100.

Reckon you'd get by fine with CDJ100 but to be honest it's worth saving that bit longer for maybe CDJ200 or even used CDJ800 mk1.

I've never had a problem with them. They were the first CD decks I ever messed around with. I played a flawless set.

i love the stutter cue, prefer it to vinyl mode. i find it reli easy to use and quicker. i guess its down to preference, there was a poll about it a bit back.
