If you intend to load commercial samples from the likes of East West, Prosamples, etc., then get Kontakt (HALion is also okay though it doesn't seem to come as highly rated). If you only want it for drums, get Battery instead, it's much simpler to use.
FYI, you don't "install" samples into Cubase, you import them onto an audio track. It's a pain to sequence drums this way but I do it all the time for effects.
Also, while it's true that a lot of soft-samplers import Akai, they don't all do it very well. Hardware samples are tricky. I haven't tested extensively with Kontakt so I can't speak as to how good it is or isn't. Most soft-samplers are also god-awful for importing Emu samples.
If you've got proprietary samples and you're having any problems importing them into a soft sampler, you might want to have a look at Chicken Systems' Translator.
