Will da bears keep rex grossman next year?

...or sign jeff garcia, etc?

i personally dont know that much about football but i think CHI can be a great team w/ a good QB like garcia. i would prolly sign him to be in an all out win-now mode.

Jeff Garcia? I don't think so.

Grossman still has some potential but even I am starting to wonder whether he's a big game guy. Keep in mind this was his first full season and, although he was wildly inconsistent, he did show flashes of brilliance that might manifest itself as he matures. Neither Favre or Manning really impressed in their first few seasons but I doubt Grossman will ever equal either of them.

I expect Rex to be the starter next season but it will be his last opportunity. If he starts posting ratings lower than 40 a few games in, he'll get yanked.

+1
The man showed some potential, but he will be kept on a very short leash. It was a good game....

Garcia thinks he's a white man.

Jeff Garcia ist 36 years old. It's not your typical quarterback of the future

my take on it -

Grossman is still starter. But in a typical Chicago Bears fashion they will draft a QB with their 1 or 2 pick and create some competition. Griese is not exactly the saviour either, nor anyone that I know of in the free agency, not a Brees type of guy anyway.

Grossman reminds me a lot of Kyle Boller - great potential but a lack of a game-breaker mentality. It's nice when you're cruising along 30-10 and destroying the other team with your defense/special teams/running game, it's much more difficult to have the game on the line with limited time on the clock and have to play - this is something that players like Manning and Brady have mastered, and something that Grossman will need to learn in order to go all the way.

Who cares about DA BEARS...they'll always be a defensive minded team for as long as it's a franchise...grossman will never be a top 5 quarterback and garcia is too old and will cost too much money, DA BEARS SUCK

jeezy peezy. please don't by into all the media hooplah about Rex being a bad QB, b/c he isn't.

He got his team to the superbowl. The bears can't "become" a great team with a new quarterback because they already are one right now.

Rex is young, he made some mistakes yes but he did very well this season overall (minus the Arizona game

Just keep in mind how few and far in between talented QBs are becoming in the NFL, and you'll realize how Rex isn't that bad at all. He has never had a QB above him to learn from, and Griese being on the sidelines will help him out this offseason, and I expect him to be much improved next year, and continue to be Chicago's guy for the next few years.

why is being defensive minded a bad thing in the NFL? Defense wins you championships. The Bears' problem is that their offense didn't get going in the SB. And it's not our fault we beat your shitty ass team in the divisional round.

And I agree that Rex is young but he'll be on a short leash come next season. If he isn't a quick learner, Lovie will have to replace him. I like him a lot but he's going to have to start producing sooner rather than later.

imo, grossman is not a bad quarterback. he's young, and has a lot to learn.

if people remember, peyton manning also had this raw talent coming out of tennessee and entering the pros. he was a statue, and tended to think his rifle passes would not be caught by defenders in the middle of the field. the significant difference with peyton this year, compared to previous years is that he was mobile. he bought himself 1 to 1.5 more seconds to make a play.

grossman needs to have the vision of finding the open man or make the decision to scramble for a couple. grossman can hail it deep to his receivers, but if you tell him to read defenses, and throw the ball to the best man in the pattern, then he would be totally lost.

just my opinion.

he needs to stop fumbling the fucking ball too though man. You can't teach that, you just don't do it. I can live with an interception or two the odd time as long as he throws TD's (and he certainly does) but he's not a good scrambler nor does he always see the best man to catch the ball.

As I said, I think Rex is a good, classy guy and I love his attitude. I just hope he learns from here on in or else he's as good as gone...wasted opportunity.

You know the only reason I LOVE the bears.... is because they proved this theory WRONG...

Trent fuckin Dilfer proved this theory... but the Bears debunked it... so God love the Bears for making me look good...

hopefully the tards who keep saying "Defense wins championships" will shut the F up now!

btw... I take Rex Grossman over Trent Dilfer everyday... the Bears just SUCK overall!
