So im starting to get into DJing and mixing, instead of just listening, and I found these CD mixers for beginners

are they anygood?
is it not worth getting the beginning ones and getting a better set?

i have a Numark DXM06 - its an excellent beginner mixer with effects too
if you have bit more cash get the DJM-400.

As far as decks get a pair of CDJ-200

bout how much do those run for...on an american site

Numark DXM06 is about $200
CDJ-200 is about $400
so for a mixer and 2 CDJs = about $1000 plus shipping

If you buy it on Ebay slightly used
CDJ-200 about $300
DXM06 about $120
so on ebay total = about $720 plus shipping


if you can't afford the CDJs right now get TRAKTOR and a mixer for now and practice that way.

I recommend what has already been said.
Don't buy cheap hardware because your just pissing money up against the wall.
The pioneer cdj200s and a Numark DXM mixer will be more then enough to practice for many years.

As for your question though, I know lots of people will disagree with me, but I recommend getting a pair of traditional turntables to start with. IMO, if you can mix vinyl, you can mix anything. It's easy to make the transition from vinyl to CD once your vinyl skills are good, but the other way around generally doesn't work quite as well.

and learning on vinyl will teach you how to be sensitive when it comes to speeding up and slowing down the record while in the middle of a mix so not to hear the adjustment

what would you advise for a a beginner mixer with effects? I have used laptop in the past for years and never dj'd really, i played live for a long time. I play psytrance to trance if that helps with effects for mixers.

or you can look for deals on ebay. I was in your shoes about 8 months ago. I got 2 Denon S1000 and Numark DXM06 for around $600. The mixer was new in the box
