Hi.

I cant comment on the production side too much as I've listened to this on the works laptop.

Overall for a second track, I think this sounds very good. The melodies are nice enough and the pads were quite nice as well.

I would however work on the structure. I think you need to work on building the track up more to a breakdown, then during the breakdown, really build it up to a climax before bringin it all back in full guns blazing. I know this might sound a bit formulaic but at the moment, the track sort of just chughs along at the same level with not a lot happening. You do introduce new elements every so often but its still at the same level energy wise and because of this, becomes a bit boring after a few minutes.

This is what I think anyway and is what I would change. But like I said, for a second track, you are doing well

I'll comment on your Production quality. No pro but i know some stuff...

In the beginning you got some clipping going on there with those pads and when the percs come in. You might want to turn that down a bit. Watch you db meter make sure its not going over 0db thats when you'll get clipping. Your bass kinda sounds muddy, dunno might just be me.

Overall sounds pretty good, crisp.

What i would sugest with this track is fade you bass out into a break down have your pads and what not playing and the timbre that comes in at 2:21 gently bring that in half way into the breakdown then when that timbre hits its max volume you have it at Explode with all the rest of your elements and continue with the rest of the melody. Tracking?

My 2 cents. You need a breakdown to calm you down oh..its mellow this is nice ooo i start feeling it build getting the energy going then BAM! WOOOOO you got your melodys and your heads nodding feeling the energy son! lol

Edit: Check out my first song in my myspace in my profile "summers Begun" at 1:25 the break down...it's kinda what i was talking about to get an idea.

G-Con, thanks.. i know i have to work on the structure...
i really appreciate your advice... i'll use it

gwrmarines, no i can assure you there's no clipping in the track.
And the pads volume in the beginning is quite lower than the main
track. As for the bass... well it's not a regular bassline... you can hear
the bass at the end of the track. That's what is playing throughout the
song. As for the breakdown, thanks thats a great idea. I'll see what i can do.

That was the kind of advice i needed... appreciate it ppl. More advice welcome

Well im using ordinary surround speakers. But the reason im
saying there's no clipping is that wavelab reports no points,
and highest pick is 0db. I dunno, software sais is ok... remember
all i have is software, a laptop and some speakers. nothing else.

Yes, I hear it too.

By the way... I will be honest. The track sounds very uninspired.. plain and boring. Nothing i would Spin or Listen to.. The pads get very annyoing after a while, and there is no central structure or melody to it...

Remember that when writing a track you first have to sit down, plan it, get an idea, play it on an instrument, and once you are done writing the song, THEN you go and pass it to the computer and work on it... do not just sit down and play with a program to see what comes out of it... that is why there is so much crap in the EDM world, too many people thinking they are geniuses just cuz they can program a drumloop.

That is one of the reasons i admire Hybrid, BT and Imogen Heap so much, they really know what they are doing.

I am being blunt, but definatley keep it up.

Extent:

- I don't know if you read my post, or just heard the track. I said this is the only second track i post. I said im an amateur, and of course i keep these tracks to only myself.
- You should also have read, i only have software. nothing else. no hardware AT ALL.
- I did not claim this was a great track, but i also know this is far better than what a "stupid person who thinks is a genius just cuz he can program a drumloop" is.
- Have you produced? Can i hear your work? Because obviously you have no idea about trance producing. At all!

If you're a plain DJ, then i don't need your comments. Really. You know nothing.

ehhhh *cough cough* I've studied music and orchestration since i was 4 , play violin and piano and currently work for the Miami Symphony Orchestra my friend. We record stuff for actual albums. With actual ingredients.

If you wanna hear my stuff, pm me. I'll show you stuff i have made.

Oh, and by the way, i didnt say you were a stupid kid thinking he is a genius just cuz he programmed a drum loop, learn how to read. I was citing that as an example.

You dont seem to take feedback that well do you.

I didnt say you know nothing about music... i said you know nothing about trance producing. I still believe that. Why? The other ppl who posted here do. That's why they commented like that. Cause they know what it means to produce trance music. They've been there. That's why they're understanding on a lower level track, and giving advices. Doesn't mean that they're not honest, or like the track.

I do appreciate your opinion. But the reason i don't want it is because i didn't expect such comments on this board. No matter how awful a track is (for the reason i explained above)

That's great you've been studying music all your life. But believe me my friend. This is nothing like what you know. You don't just sit down, put notes and certain instruments, come up with a drumloop and mix them together. You don't know unless you get into it. That's why i said i don't need your comments.

Anyway I don't want to argue anymore. I realise this track is not good enough for an audience outsite producing. All i asked was advice so i can make something more decent next time. And since your post is not helping at all... thanks anyway

I agree with Extent, your track sounds very uninspired and nothing pleasurable to my ears... Yes, Write the track first.. then produce otherwise it will sound like crap.
