Benefits of having 3 CDJ's

what's up guys. i was thinking about getting a 3rd cdj (1000mk3). since i started djing, i have accumulated serato, ableton, turntables, cdj's and the djm800. i have been on the fence w/ ableton. i barely use my tt's anymore and am almost always using my cdj's (w/ serato). i'm about to make a purchase soon and was actually thinking about getting a 3rd cdj (and possibly another serato box) to add to my collection. just looking for some constructive criticism. getting a 3rd cdj just seems to make the most sense to me. i could get really creative w/ 3 cdj's. let me know what you think or if you have any other suggestions.

thanks
bisco

to be honest all I want when Im playing is 3 cdjs and a rotary mixer.

having 3 cdjs makes life so much easier and i much prefer not having to lug around a laptop + cables + box or vinyls. (done both, hate both)

having 3 cdjs for me means i can play really short songs and be able to get another track in there in time, also allows for easier mashups and everything

you seem to have a whole hell of a lot of gear, i know you do some mobile and top40 djing so i can see why, but i suppose the best question is what are you looking to do with the third cdj you can't do with two + all your other stuff?

good question... i dont use ableton outside of my bedroom. i have landed some gigs where i can play edm, so you know what i could use a 3rd cdj for there.

for the hip-hop/top 40 gigs. i would love to mix some edm beats w/ the track that is playing, and mix the next track over the edm beats seemlessly. i would also love a 3rd cdj for scratching, backspins, loops, samples, and other odd tricks. another reason i'd need a 3rd cdj is to play instras and accapellas together, and have the next track cued up on the 3rd cdj.

i hate when i'm doing my thing and then have to stop to cue up the next track. i'd rather do my thing and have the next track already cued. i could be more creative.

I've been going through the exact same thing. I need a 3rd cdj BADLY.. but yet again, is this all worth for the bedroom? i mean i shelled out on cdjs, efx, mixers, software.. but where does it all stop? that's the only thing stopping me now!

PS: im a student abroad who's probably going back home (14 hours away by plane) so gotta take this shit with me, so i take that into consideration too!

but all in all, the benefits are great... and there's just soo much stuff to do with a third cdj.. i think if you can afford it easily then by all means go for it!

I want a 3rd CDJ too... for sampling, looping, mashups and whatnot.

Allows more creativity in a set, though this is kinda limited by what genre you play for most parts.

I would use a 3rd CDJ for samples and just little stuff here and there. Maybe added percussions and such.

I have three and absolutely love it. Mash-ups, loops, sampling... it allows for a lot more creativity than just two CDJs do. I also find it more rewarding to do on-the-fly mashing and looping on CDJs and get the exact same result as your average Ableton user.

what he said, + three deck mixing (as he already implied). i suppose you could always dedicate one to an efx-500 for zabiela scratching. lol

having 3 cdjs makes you 50% more appealing to the opposite sex than those with only 2.
