Burning MP3s at High Speed.

If you burn mp3s at x32 speed is the audio of a lower quality than if you burn at slower speeds?
I've been told that to get the best quality audio sound from an mp3 you should burn at x1 speed.

if your computer is ghetto and you burn at high speeds, there will be clicks and stops and shit.

(trust me, I would know.... )

make sure you aren't running anything when you burn, like Audiogalaxy.

the correct answer is:

It depends

yes, as one can imagine, the quality of a burnt CD depends on many factors. I had a review once -back in the 16x era- where some CD-R drives burnt better audio at 16x than at 1x. The major contributers to how good the audio will be is:
1. the CD-R drive
2. the media
3. how the rest of your system stacks up.. if you cannot decode mp3 at 32x with your pentium-s 60 then i think you should not try and burn at 32x lolz

Burn as fast as the CD can take.
Burning at 1x is the worst advice ever. Anyone who tells you to do it cleary doesn't have a clue how modern CD burners work. It would actually surprise me if your burner has an option for 1x burning. The min will probably be 2x or 4x......depending on when it was made.

"Burn as fast as the CD can take."

mainly it's how fast your computer can process the information, send it to the (perhaps through the USB / Serial port) to the CD burner.

If you have a fast processor and alot of RAM then burning at 4*600 (like me) won't affect quality at all.

I heard once that burners have a life span in the order of 1000 burns or something. And @ high speeds you are pushing the burner and decreasing its life span. Is this true?
