I could have sworn i left a review last night, but I'll go again i suppose. The mixing = Yes yes yes yes and one oui. To be totally honest i dislike most of the Trance tracks in here and was a little scared. (just personal taste of course) The way this was put together made the tracks not being favourites absolutely irrelevant. It is so nice to hear a set when you can't pinpoint when every transition is going to start. It thinks outside the box, adds elements of suprise (the best thing you can do to a set imo) and keeps a fairly good pace to keep you attentive. Well done, this is the first mix i have ever heard from you and I might be inclined to listen to another one if this is your mixing style you usually employ. Story mode is nice, but if people played trance with this style of mixing more often, it would just be more fun. I like the artwork as well, it reminds me a littlwe bit of some old Circo Loco posters i have lying around. |
Cheers for the good review, you seem to have picked up on most of my aims with this mix - moving away from the standard "tune-mix-tune-mix-tune" sort of structure is something I'm very into so it's really good that you've said you like that it isn't very obvious where some of the mixes start/finish.
My other mixes do tend to be similar in terms of mixing style, although they've varied quite widely in genre, this is the first mix for a while where I've really tried to pool together a lot of the different sounds I'm into.

ye, this is a great mix, almost up to class to notice your ears (which is still immense). the transitions are flawlessly good, like a-n-f said, you barely hear where one track comes in and where it goes out. however, with the mix into the matt darey mix of el nino, and onto yaws, you could hear "transitions" so to speak. but that's my only nitpicking.
otherwise, ye, tis banging
