My last few weeks at the drag races
So Ive been spending a bunch of time at the dragstrip. Ive grow up around these racers so I try to show up and lend a hand if they need it. So Nov 1-4th was the NHRA World Finals. It seems like drag racing doesnt get too much love in the lounge but I thought Id share my shots.
I spend most of Sat helping my friends out with their alcohol funnycar.

Nice pics
I love the turbo'd 'Busa. Too much blingy chrome on it though.
While I couldn't ever get in to drag racing myself (I ran rallies and autocross in my MX-5), the brutal power is really impressive.

I love all motorsports. Drag racing is something Ive grown up around since I was 3. Its great if you have A.D.D. too. There is something about chasing speed records that appeals too me.

Im well aware of Bonnieville. I havent been but soon. There are a few diffrent versions of speed. Drag racing is more about being "quick" 0 to whatever in the fastest time, bonnieville is for a true speed record over a 7 mile track.

The only local strip to me are the RaceLegal events in San Diego, although it has its faults. Qualcomm Stadium has a dedicated 1/8 mile strip to RaceLegal (an event usually held every other Friday as an alternative to illegal street racing), which is inclined and generally full of Honda Civics and Integras. They also have a restriction on how fast you can go and a dB limit (there is a shopping center + housing nearby). It's cheap quick and nearby fun, so meh.
But I've been the the Barona strips (1/8+1/4)a couple of times and it's a bit more diversified and populated in terms of cars. It's also loud

Those are great ways of keeping kids off the streets with racing and Im all for it....but seeing "real" drags are so much louder/faster. I highly recommend it. Tv/videos just dont cut it. So loud your fillings shake.
