As a former San Diegan that now lives in L.A. I was always let down by the superstar DJs and the crowds at places like Belo and On Broadway that always looked confused and more into posing. But last night the crowd was into it and MSTRKRFT kicked major ass! Saw them in NYC for the DIAMONDS Digweed tour and while they might not have matched that Saturday night in the NYC they still delivered a thrilling set that was better than anything I have seen in San Diego in a long time.
The openers brought energy and solid, if not amazing sets and then MSTRKRFT opened with a sample of Van Halen's "Eruption" that was followed by a heavy and hard electro set that kept the energy level high. The rest of the show was followed with tracks from their last album. The hard rockin' style isn't for everyone, but it works for me.
They ended with their remix of "D.A.N.C.E." that was blended perfectly into "Da Funk". I thought it was an amazing night and can't wait to see them blow up a tent at New Year's!

Sad, but true!
Good news is that we now do have some knowledgeable SD TA's its a small percent of the club-goers but at least there is hope.
Glad you had a kick-ass night. Thanks for the review.

just too hard and too repetitive. they aparently love distorted guitars that play 2 notes and sidechained away. crowd was into it, but i wasn't into the music. maybe next time!
