you should study some theory and/or develop your ear. you asked the question sounding like you dont really have a clear understanding of tonal music. as long as your using notes that are in the key of the song and the notes in each melody are not creating dissonance with each other, they should be able to be played together well.

one more thing. you should not have two melodies going at once. the melody being the highest voice generally. using the model of SATB...soprano, alto, tenor, and bass, soprano being highest and bass lowest, your melody should typically reside in the soprano. in the case of your two melodies you should put the most memorable one on the top and drop the other an octave lower to use it as your alto voice.

Try - Fail - Learn = Practice

We've all been there. Just stick with it, and look at good midi files with complex melodies / read about harmony if you will. I haven't, just been trying and failing for a long time.

Stop shortening the word melody. And what you want is not going to happen. You have to change one or the other melody (or both).

An easy to way to try and match 'melodies' is to make two random ones with the same notes. Also take a few notes of that melody to work as a baseline progression to go with it.

I also started music from scratch with only basic notation training. this 'little' trick above was what got me started in creating melodies and counter-melodies.
It does take quite some time to train your ears, but it works well!

well m8 thats what iam trying to do at the moment and realy it is a good one to work melodies but only on the same chords.

the problem going for me is i have a melo for 8 chords when i do a diff notes for it ok it goes well but when i do a melo for the first 2 chords and want it to go for the rest of the chords it dont work except for the first 2 only what i want is to start the track with this melo then i do the main one then play both together its almost in every trance track
