Spending Christmas Sans Familia
So how many of you here have ever spent Christmas alone due to family being too far away, etc?
My parents live in China and my dad is just too exhausted from travelling to come back over here (he travels about 10 months out of the year for his job). I can't go over there to visit as I have obligations keeping me here.
Does anyone know of any fun activities to do on Christmas day?

The only Christmas I spent away from home was in a few years ago in Australia. It was about 25 and pure sun shine so some friends and I had a bbq in the park down by the river...Due to our lovely weather here, I'm going to say thats probably not an option. But you could always take a nice winter walk. And I think the movies are open on Christmas. Although I'd find that kind of depressing.

I have before, and I will be this year. All my family is over in India shopping for my sister's upcoming wedding.
I've usually just hung out at home, and waited till my friends were done with their xmas stuff. This year I might just ask if I can go to a close friends house and if I can spend xmas with them.
If not, clubs, Chinese food places, and movie theaters are open usually. Seeing a movie on Christmas day with the theater empty, is a pretty cool feeling.

Actually Xmas is pretty big for the theatres.
They always have new Releases that come out on Xmas day.

This is my first Christmas ever apart from my family, but I'm the one away, so I won't be much help on what there's to do here.

there's gotta be other people living away from family for xmas.
Maybe do something with those people?
